Stud Dogs
I am very happy to offer the dogs listed below at stud. All of my stud dogs are based with me in the Highlands, just north of Inverness, they are all fit, healthy and fully health tested through the relevant BVA/KC schemes. They are active working dogs and regular members of my picking up team, as well as being very trainable and having lovely temperaments.
I have been lucky enough to have some lovely pups produced from my boys and I am always happy to provide references from previous owners.
All stud dogs have correct dentition/bite, clear hearts, two present testicles and are fit and healthy.. They are also regularly semen checked.
As this is something I am asked about regularly, I do not place breeding endorsements on puppies sired by any of my stud dogs.
Support for breeders
With many years of experience with stud dogs, both my own and other people’s, I am more than happy to help first time or novice breeders through the process.
If you are unsure which dog would be the best match for your bitch, I am happy to discuss your plans and talk through the options with you. I can also help with things such as progesterone or cytology testing, pregnancy scanning and general litter planning, and point you towards veterinary or other professional support where needed.
I am also happy to help with the practical side of breeding a litter, from choosing the stud dog and arranging the mating through to advertising your litter and vetting potential new owners.
Bitches visiting
I ask that any bitch visiting my dogs is:
* Of a good, sound temperament
* Hip scored through the BVA/KC or ANKC scheme
* Elbow scored 0-0 through the BVA/KC or ANKC scheme
* Eye tested through the BVA/KC scheme
* At least 18 months old
I would also advise against leaving a first litter until after five years of age unless this has been discussed with your vet and you are fully aware of the additional risks involved.
My stud dogs are experienced with mating a variety of bitches, including nervous or inexperienced girls. My aim is always to make the process as calm and straightforward as possible.
All matings are supervised. Dogs and bitches are never simply left together to “get on with it”.
Stud service
The stud service includes two tied matings, ideally 24–48 hours apart.
Bitches should be progesterone or cytology tested to help determine the correct timing for mating.
You will receive a stud contract confirming use of the dog, together with the information required to register the puppies, a five-generation pedigree and copies of his health test results.
If your bitch does not conceive, a free return is offered on her next convenient season, with two further matings. Proof that your bitch has not conceived must be provided by your vet.
Please ensure you are comfortable with these terms before proceeding.
Frozen semen
Frozen breeding units are available from Carnochway Crathes at Fyrish and Wolfzone Au Revoir at Fyrish.
Each breeding unit is accompanied by the relevant veterinary health certification from the time of freezing. Where the certification meets the importing country’s requirements, the units are export ready.
Purchasers are responsible for checking any additional import requirements with their own country.
